Evan Boggess’s paintings are conflations of personal experiences, cultural allegories, references to natural resources, paradoxical circumstances, and geographical features of his home state.

Boggess received his MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011 and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in the summer of 2011.

He currently maintains a home studio in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, where he lives with his wife and two children.

In addition to his painting practice, he is also a full-time faculty member of the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater at Shepherd University. Boggess was the director of Shepherd University’s Phaze 2 Gallery from 2014 to 2023.
